Anna Karina - Chansons de films

Anna Karina is a Danish born yé-yé girl who was probably more famous for her films thus it’s appropriate that the album I'm sharing here is made up of chansons from her films. This is my favourite Anna Karina album I've heard and in many ways just a great intro into the genre given the fast range of songs compiled on it. Anna has an amazing raspy soulful lounge singer voice on the slower track as well as your classical bubbly yé-yé cheerfulness on the upbeat numbers. Highly infectious pop music even if you don't understand a word she says save for the one English language number and bilingual chorus of the albums highlight Roller Girl.
