Incredibly satisfying instrumental avant-folk. Very listenable. Had Cerberus Shoal started to worry that they no longer sounded "post-rock" after the release of The Land We All Believe In, this might be what the reversion and subsequent failure (genre-wise) would have sounded like. Both musicians have been involved in countless other projects: Carla with Charming Hostess, Tin Hat, Book of Knots, 2 Foot Yard, and Fred Frith; Shahzad with Tom Waits, Eyvind Kang, Arto Lindsay, and even Mike Doughty (Ruby Vroom is better than you all think it is, but I'll save that tangent for another time). The list for both artists is of course, much longer, but there is only so much I am willing to write at 2:30 in the morning. Get it.

Nac/Hut Report has not died for delirium.
This album is fucking great, thank you!
Since this is my favorite blog and I've downloaded a good 100 albums from it before, I am going to make a reccomendation: Harry Partch. You should track down the Harry Partch Collection Volume 2 immediately, if you want to hear the most mindbogglingly insane music ever created. If there's anything more insane than that, feel free to enlighten me.
Glad you enjoyed the album! I've come very close to posting Partch before, and I've got Volume 1 of the Partch Collection. I'm more a fan of Delusion and Bewitched though. What kind of stuff is on Vol 2?
Vol. 2 is just his most complex stuff, I think. DELUSIONS OF THE FURY is my other favorite, but Volume 2... there is a 25 minute song and a 29 minute song on it that are just ridiculous, the most insane thing I've ever heard. Highly reccomended.
Carla usually slays. Taking this as I'm preparing an album that features her for BCUW right now.
bernie, restless & mysterious album, thank you.
great blog. thank you indeed.
Cerberus Shoal huh? Are you from New England too? I hadn't heard Carla Kihlstedt until the "recent" album she did with Fred Frith and Stevie Wishart. I listened to that thing over and over again as I seriously had a stretch of over a week of sleepless nights trying to wrap my mind around a definition of an immanent God so that I could get my dissertation about Spinoza's philosophy done. The music was perfect. I posted it on my blog a while back: http://vaubu.blogspot.com/search/label/fred%20frith
Thank you for this. I know it is going to be wonderful. I'll add a link of your blog to mine tonight because I need to get back here. But I need to turn the computer off now, lest it be another sleepless night. Salut!
Btw, I made a really great mix of cerberus, alot of unreleased stuff. Follow up in this thread of comments if you would be interested in having a copy.
Danny - shit, i'm behind on comments. got that album. good stuff.
Bernie - it's my pleasure to be able to share such great tunes.
Vabuu - No, I'm from Michigan. Thanks for the kind words. I would definitely be into your Cerberus mix. Let me know what's up.
Yeah this album is quite a treat. Thanks again. What album is Danny referring to above? I'll get back to you (soonish) with a link for the Cerberus Shoal mix.
Wu Fei. Glad you like. Thanks.
